How it works

Profit in three steps

Three fields and a range, nothing to sign up for.

  1. Enter what you paid

The price at the thrift store, the garage sale or the auction.

  2. Add a price range

A low, likely and high sale price, plus the selling fee and the shipping you cover.

  3. Read the profit

Profit, margin and ROI at each price, and the lowest price that still breaks even.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How the numbers are worked out.

How is resale profit calculated?

Profit is the sale price minus the selling fee, the shipping you pay, any other costs and what you paid for the item.

What is the difference between margin and ROI?

Margin is profit as a share of the sale price. ROI is profit as a share of what you paid, so a cheap find can show a high ROI on a small profit.

What does the break-even price mean?

It is the lowest sale price at which the fee, shipping, other costs and your purchase price are covered and profit is zero.

Which selling fee should I enter?

The rate your marketplace charges for that category, including any payment processing. Fees change, so check the marketplace's own fee page.

Does the calculator cost anything?

No. It runs in your browser, needs no account and has no daily limit.

How do I know what an item will sell for?

Look at recent sales of the same item. The Primo Worth app estimates a value and a range from one photo, checked against recent eBay sales where they exist.
